Daly given six-month tour suspension

Former Open champion John Daly has been suspended for six months for "conduct detrimental to golf's image".

Daly's last tournament was October 17th, where he missed the cut. He was found by police and was taken into custody to sleep off his intoxication.

“Is it fair that I got suspended? It’s not fair in reality, but it’s probably fair in perception,”

This is the second suspension of Daly's career, the last coming in 1994. He has always been an immensely controversial, and quotable, character on the golf circuit.

Daly said his decision to go public was "to be fair to my fans and tournament organizers". The PGA has a policy of not discussing disciplinary matters.

"This is the lowest I've ever been," he added. "There's always light with me. Right now, my home tour is probably Europe. And I love the European tour. I always have. But my home is the United States. That's where I would rather play."
