Who will be the winners and losers of 2009? Golf is never an easy game to predict but we thought we'd get off the fence and take a light-hearted look at what's in store for 09.
Winner: Sergio Garcia will finally break his major duck...
Loser: ...whilst Padraig Harrington will remain on three
Winner: European golfers (such as Karlsson and Stenson) will dominate major tournaments
Loser: American golfers will continue to lose their dominance (if you discount Woods)
Winner: Tiger Woods' comeback will grab more column inches and air-time than the entire rest of the pack combined...
Loser: ...but Woods won't win a major in 2009
Winner: Natalie Gulbis will continue to be the object of many a golfer's desire...
Loser: ...whilst Michelle Wie will continue to underachieve
Winner: Ian Poulter will start putting his money where his mouth is...
Loser: ...but still look like a total moron in the process.
Winner: IntoTheRough favourite John Daly's lawyer will be kept busy in 2009...
Loser: ...but Daly won't make the cut in a single event worth competing in
Winner: prices on equipment wil tumble as manufacturers struggle to keep afloat
Loser: tournaments will suffer as sponsors pull out due to the economic crisis
Winner: expect your local course to be less crowded as players feel the pinch and can't afford green fees...
Loser: ...but don't bank on the course staying in business all year
