Scott back amongst the big time

Adam Scott confirmed his return back among golf's top player after his stunning Masters campaign resulted in his tied second place finish. The Australian, and his compatriot Jason Day, finished two shots behind winner Charl Schwartzel after a magical final round in the famous tournament, one that really upset the golf betting odds .

While not many will have predicted the final leaderboard - those that did will certainly have a smile on their faces - not many can argue that the trio weren't the final day's stand-out players. After sensational final rounds by the Aussie duo of Day and Scott it briefly looked as though a possible play-off could be on the cards, until South African Schwartzel continued his stunning birdie run to pip the men from Down Under at the post.

While Scott will be frustrated not to have pushed on when he lead the field, he can take plenty of positives heading into the rest of the season. While the Aussie's all-round game was on song it was his putting that put him within touching distance of the Masters title. Using a long putter, Scott seems to have gained the skill on the greens that are needed to challenge in the big tournaments .

Scott will have gone into the Masters in confident spirits after a return to form over the past couple of season. A decent 2010 had been followed by a promising start to the new season, with a sixth place finish at the Cadillac Championship last month. Scott won't have envisaged what he achieved last week at Augusta but will need to use it as a platform going into the rest of his campaign.
