With European captain Colin Montgomerie and Golf Betting pundits around the world well aware that the Ryder Cup, an event that pits the best of US golf against Europe's elite golfers, is rapidly approaching, he has used the history books to help him to make his first key decision of the competition.

Celtic Manor will see the 2010 Ryder Cup, the centrepiece of Sky TV's 3D channel launch, have a tinge of 1997 and Valderrama about it after Montgomerie decided to follow in the footsteps of legendary European Captain Seve Ballesteros by choosing to switch the traditional start of foursomes to fourballs.

With this start having proved a massive success for the former European captain, current captain Montgomerie will be looking to gain every advantage possible to ensure that his 2010 Ryder Cup squad will be able to live up to expectations and deliver success against a weakened US team.

With Europe the overwhelming favourites with the Golf Odds to win back the Ryder Cup on home soil, especially with world number one Tiger Woods having endured a year to forget, both in and out of the clubhouse, Montgomerie knows that failure to deliver the Cup to the expectant home fans could tarnish his fantastic career.
