Question:

I'm 28 and have been playing golf for 3 years. My distance with a 7 iron is 150 yards, but I can hit my driver only 200 yards. I want to know how I can hit it farther. Thanks.

Answer:

Distance is a result of a well timed athletic move. Here this means we must use and coordinate both our upper and lower body to help generate club head speed. With the shorter irons you can get away with not utilizing your lower body as much.

When we get out to a driver, a full shoulder turn, coupled with proper hip rotation, and weight transfer forward is a necessity for club head speed. Make sure that when you finish a shot with your driver that your weight ends up on your front foot and that your belt buckle is pointing directly at the target. If you do this, your lower body will get more into the shot and more club head speed will be achieved.

Having a professional help you with this might be a good idea.
